When you have essentially limitless money you get thoroughly bored very quickly.
It's like when I play the postgame of GTA V when you have basically endless money from the final heist. I bought all the tanks and hi speed jets and cars etc and I get so fucking bored even though I have everything in the game at my disposal and go anywhere and do anything.
Now imagine Rothschilds and Bill Gates etc - they exist in the postgame of the world and have no purpose or meaning in their lives. So they can only look to bigger and more existential projects to give themselves fulfilment, like becoming transhumanist gods and seeing if they can dominate the people of the planet, like a game. It's just something to do for them, to kill time in the postgame of a game they completed years ago and there's nothing more to do.
Very true; the richest people I've known were also the most miserable, bored and boring. Total slaves to their wealth. I never once envied them or wanted to change places. I am free and very content with my lot.
