Gheez. Yeah the Wal-Mart comment was just a jab at them. Great recall of your day?! There’s no hope for more than 4-6% I’m afraid…they’ll never understand. I suppose professional deprogramming, but seriously? Were the Archives cool? I digg Old Town Alexandria too 👍🏽
I used to spend the summers in Williamsburg as a child (before they charged for everything) and I have such a love for everything colonial. So I loved old Town Alexandria - it was the first time we had been.
The Archives are very cool, assuming they really do have the original documents out to see. But the line is always long and you can’t really linger too long. The Declaration is my favorite. I could stare at it all day!
We’ve been twice. The first time with our daughters after the 2009 Tea party Rally. We stood in line with Patriots who were so excited to be all together. We were all family that day. Everyone was talking together. Seeing the documents in that environment was truly special. The Trump inauguration had a very similar feel, but people were more cautious in talking to everyone unless you saw the Trump gear.
Every time I’ve been to the Archives, I am super aware of all the documents stored away, especially the JFK docs. If I lived in DC, I’d be at the building seeing whatever I could.I still remember the stories about Sandy Berger smuggling classified documents out.
I would say if you get the chance to go, go do it. But who knows what is real at the moment? I don’t trust much of our history until we can figure out what was the actual truth.
I hear you. So much fraud and corruption a lot of the sparkle is gone for me. I went to Jamestown a few years back and enjoyed that a lot. Grew up in Massachusetts & saw probably every Pilgrim/Colonial place that was available. Getting that “feel” for those hard times makes you think.
