If you think that is bad you should see the name he had originally:
Amir Mohammed Abdul Rahman al-Mawli al-Salbi
Apparently, Abu-Ibrahim is a name for energetic, courageous and determined people.
Muhammad himself was a member of the house of Hāshim (Hashem), a subdivision of the Quraysh tribe. so the remainder of the name is associating Abu-Ibrahim with the Prophet.
