Is it worth noting that Fox notes Trump’s response as saying “In the latest pleading from Special Counsel [John] Durham” at 1:24 in this clip?
Brackets are to be used in quotes to denote clarifying info. Just curious to me it was used in this case by Fox to replace “Robert” with “John” which seems different than clarifying and is a substantive change. Purposeful misquote? They could have as easily added [sic] before Robert and more people would be scratching their heads about the apparent mistake to of saying Robert instead of John.
Any other thoughts here?
Great eye man. Fox should leave it as is. Pathetic. We get it.
I've definitely seen brackets used to correct misspellings, though I'm not sure if you're technically correct that [sic] must be used in that situation.
