If something happens, you will likely pay less out of pocket than you would have if you had insurance. I broke my leg at a time I was working an otherwise decent job that didn't provide insurance. I broke my leg in a horrible way. Multiple surgeries, appointments, 2 days in the hospital. Cost me only about $1,000. I could not believe it.
Thats awesome thank you for sharing. I am about to go into labor with our second child and I am paying for a home birth (insurance wouldn’t have covered it anyways) and the fear is if I need to be transferred to the hospital it could be pricey but all things considering I know it won’t be too bad and I am going to try my best to stay the hell away from the death camps they call hospitals! Your story brings me much needed peace of mind
I think they would rather get an affordable amount of money from people rather than bankrupt people and get nothing. Anyways, congrats on the almost newborn.
Dear God, please bless this child, and this family. May the birth be as routine and worry free as possible. May the child be healthy and strong. We thank you Lord. Amen.
You are saying they charged less because you didn't have insurance? This makes no sense to me. I've never seen such a thing. I know that you can try to negotiate if you have no insurance, but what you're saying just doesn't compute. $1,000 for 2 days in the hospital and multiple surgeries?

I agree. It makes no sense. That's what happened though.
Edit. I forgot to mention there was also an ambulance ride.
But yes the sum of every bill I got was around a grand.
