I have used WordPerfect since the 80s, as it's the most powerful word processor, and I need that. I also have the free OpenOffice software that mimics the entire Microsoft Office suite of programs. I use that software for spreadsheets and presentations.
There Ya go. I lost track of my old WP, but do use OpenOffice. I had some issues with past employers receiving OOffice docs (my resume) and not being able to open it; but that was so long ago…
I send most documents as PDF files now. WordPerfect can create them directly. I don't have the very latest version. It does what I want now, so I don't see a need to change.
BTW, if you run Windows XP in a virtual machine, you could run an old version of WP. Archive has a number of previous versions for free download, along with manuals: https://archive.org/search.php?query=wordperfect
Columbia University actually supports the old 5.0 DOS version of WP. They write new printer drivers and more.
Wow…I used to collect old DOS diskettes. I think I learned on 3.1 but 5.0 was good. I liked the IBM version vs MS. I ran OS2 and played with RedHat some so a new LINUX os doesn’t scare me. I’ve ran VM so that archive is GREAT!! I even have a Novell 3.12 CNA Cert. But, I stayed in Aerospace & never started a second career in computing mainly cuz of all the young geniuses flooding the market at that time. Then I went to war (OIF & OEF) and that was that. My computer skills did come in handy in Aerospace tho 👍🏽
I’m downloading Libre Office now; thanks! (Then I’m goin PHishin). 👍🏽
