It does when the curriculum involves you teaching specific themes in specific novels and have it be "cross curriculum" with social justice.
Then teach the novel. Doesn't mean you have to teach CRT.
The novels selected often push the narrative.
The teachers decide what part of the novel is pushed. That is their job as educators. Let the kids decide if they see it or not. That's what I would do if in that situation.
That's how I did it, too.
