Its not a nuclear wasteland at all. Ive seen many articles over the last 10-15 years showing the wildlife returning. They do tours of Pripyat. There was a National Geaographic article highlighting the region and the author toured the city and region with tons of photos. It is absolutely not a nuclear wasteland.
Now an exclusionary zone around an area and the narrative it is a wasteland could be very useful for people with nefarious intent.
Doesn't one need a lot of paperwork to get into Pripyat (abandoned city near the reactor) just to see it? I wonder if they're saying that Chernobyl has been turned into some kind of DS workshop. Nobody in their right mind would want to go there ... seems to be the perfect place for assholes to work on their garbage that helps turn people into slaves.
