This was all over the social media feed of the Leftists I know. They were in full freak out mode. They were saying Russia set off a nuke.
(which I don't blame them for being freaked over this. Seeing something like this go off would freak anyone out.)
What's the difference between this and say, a small nuke?
Thermobaric bombs are non-nuclear, so no radioactive fallout and a lot less burning and melting of things. Also, not as large an explosion as a typical nuke.

Russians have one "Father of all Bombs" that's bigger than our "Mother of all Bombs". Difference with explosion appearance would be same as Tactical nuke with no radiation.

We have those, too. If it's really a Geneva Convention violation, then the U.S. doesn't care for it, because we have them. We tested them on buildings full of monkeys. I'll spare you the details, but suffice it to say, these weapons are bad. They should be banned, for the amount of suffering they cause.
Yup, was going to say the same thing. In fact I recall some videos a few years back touting US thermobaric bombs being tested but I can't recall if it was at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Nellis AFB, or some DARPA facility.
One commenter says it was an ammo dump explosion from several days ago. Regardless, it would be a great way to sterilize a biolab.
This is the first time in a while that they haven't said send in US troops. If it is so bad, why not send "advisors" at least, or force other countries into there with proxy soldiers? Either Russian stigma is still too strong, or maybe someone doesn't control the military like they want people to belive....?
