Different sides of the same coin. Both are on the far (but not farthest) left side of political spectrum as forms of authoritarian government. Fascism is right of communism, and yet still on the left, far left, of classical liberalism (American republicanism). Farther right of our system is "liberitarianism", democracy and then anarchy.
But alas, people don't understand words and the concepts they represent
