Marriage median age was 21 in 1930s, 13% of brides were 15-19. Median age for child birth was the same, so 1 out of 10 girls were getting married 15-19, and 1 out of 10 girls were having kids at the same age.
What's the end goal though? What did 1930s Walt Disney get out of making her 14? This isn't like Dan Schneider with Nickelodeon shows, where it's obvious child abuse. it was an animated motion picture marketed to adults
By 1920, all US states except Georgia had age of consent laws at 16 years old or over. Those age of consent laws were targeted for people like men who were twice or more the age of girl.
Snow White was made in 1937. Also this is an animated motion picture that's targeted to adults AND children at the time but now it is all for children. Don't bullshit me that Disney made Snow White 14 and the Prince 31 just to appease adults. Its an extremely flawed argument.
I think you made an excellent argument and am not deterred to say so because you didn't use nice words. I appreciate your insight. I am curious if this is common knowledge? I have never heard this before. It's eye opening for sure.
I imagine its not or Disney would get a lot of push back. Kids would be more likely to look up the "age" of a Disney princess than their parents when emulating a character.
It's a very childish thought "how old is Snow White and Prince Fleurian?". Many adults would not even be bothered to think that because its a movie meant for kids.
