We have something similar in the US that you plug in.
In the 90s they called them snackers.
Now i think they just call them sandwich makers, idk.
You could put cheess, pie filling, whatever, in between 2 slices of bread and it cooks it, cuts it into 2 triangles and seals the sides, like a hot pocket
I think this is a case of the antipodes (Australia) inventing something awesome and the manufacturers in the US picking up on that and acting.
Of course, we have electric jaffle makers or sandwich makers here too.
But it's kinda fun to think that our elders where doing this old school and it became a craze in Australia from the 40s onwards.
We've had regular grilled cheese sammies forever though. Idk if that's different from jaffle. ..
But hey, spread on some veggimite, m8
LOl, yeah, different from jaffles. Jaffles are those sandwich hotpockets. But Aussies developed those irons that you slam the bread and filling in, and then toast over a flame, gas or such. They then became a favorite thing to take camping, and you could create the jaffles by sticking the jaffle iron (with filling) into your campfire.
My mum used to make grilled cheese on toast back in the 70's. Nostalgic much.
