That's stupid on the doctor's part.
A twisted, blocked intestines will be fatal if not corrected within a short time period.

That being the case, who cares if she "may not handle the anesthesia "? Even if the anesthesia is 50/50 chance, possibly allowing them to operate, it sure beats the alternative.

Did the doctors not have to take a Logic class in college?

Give her a spinal block and a local and untwist the gut. General anesthesia is grossly overused.

My mom broke her hip at 72 years old. They wouldn't operate because she had COPD. After a year, they finally agreed to do it after I 'suggested' they give her just enough anesthesia to put her asleep and if she started to wake up they gave her a little more etc. instead of putting her under deeply for the whole surgery. It took some convincing but it worked. Your mom REALLY needs the surgery. I will pray for her.

hey OP, i know this is gonna sound kinda crazy, but, if you can get a message to your mom, she may have it within her to fix her own problem, without surgery.

obviously i don't know the full extent of the twist and blockage, BUT your intestines aren't as random as they appear. they are held together in a way that allows them to move about, without getting twisted (usually)...

if the intestine got twisted itself, its possible that it could untwist itself...

what she might need to do, is to let GRAVITY assist her, by rolling around in bed, and sucking her belly in-and-out, to get things moving around.

there is a BOOK about "AUTO-SUGGESTION", and the gist of the book, is that your body CAN and WILL respond to direct mental commands.

in your mom's example, have her FOCUS and THINK about where the problem is (her belly, her bowel), and have her MENTALLY COMMAND her own intestines to untwist, and to straighten out right, and to flow, and pass, to make a BOWEL MOVEMENT
