I refuse to call it that. It's almost as bad as all the celebrities making up "Ohhhh-maj", as a pronunciation of "homage". The only two correct pronunciations are "hom-adj", or "om-adj". I guess somewhere along the way, they thought they sounded sophisticated in using the made-up pronunciation.

They mistakenly think it's a French word, but it's not. Fromage is French. Homage is English. There are a lot of poorly educated people on TV.
