...because anyone under 65 is a "material child", and they are also desperately seeking validation (not all, but more than most). I wanna be like Mike... or whoever... so I must have what Mike has. How did we become so shallow?
And, how do we build depth of character again? Only by becoming aware of our truth, which usually requires pain.
I do feel pity for humanity, and I hope for a renewal and a wave of virtue, character, integrity, and ethic. In other words... a rebirth in Christ.
Create in me a pure heart, Lord.
He answers, "Oh little one, be patient. I'm not done with you yet."
Patience... forgot to add that to my list in the post! Thanks for your comment of truth.
I'm sorry you had to watch (mostly) grown men play with a ball. Nothing wrong with a bar. Beer is proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy!
Lol... true, but b-ball can be fun to watch when a team plays well, especially defense. Nothing wrong with sports. MacCarthurs wrote: "Upon the fields of friendly strife are sown the seeds that, upon other fields, on other days will bear the fruits of victory."
Unfortunately the effects of commercialism have corrupted that essence.
He said better than what I was gonna say, God speed my fren.
Yes, thank you. And you, too. We are in this together.
I'm perfectly happy being who I am. I can't imagine going through life trying to be someone else or wasting my time worrying about what they have. But you're right, people have become increasingly shallow and lacking moral fiber.
When I was a kid I remember celebrities practicing their faith, going to church, charity work, not afraid to mention God or Jesus in interviews. Remember Fr Peyton's rosary included many celebrities like Loretta Young, Ricardo Montalban, Danny Thomas, Grace Kelly, Esther Williams, Perry Como.....
That time is long gone.
Powerful comment. Sobering comparison to today. Thanks for posting.
A bit related but not centric: i love how boomers criticize the younger generations when they gave us Gloria Steinem, the sexual revolution, rampant drug use, the hardcore socialist agenda and the fact that they raised the generation that they judge. Shit, the way I see it, I'm surprised anyone outside of the Bible Belt had a chance. Add government propaganda/programming to that and you're golden.
Jesus is the answer for everyone but that path is narrow and few are placed upon it. Perhaps things are changing. As above, so below.
You are so right. I am an X-er. But thanks to my parents our family culture has always beek akin to the Greatest Generation.
Lol. Not quite. It's my own theory about the age, and getting worse with every younger generation.
I don't see it. But I respect your opinion.
