Just got a notice from my parts supplier in Shenzhen.
All businesses in Shenzhen, China's manufacturing hub, are closed effective immediately for an indefinite period. That includes all shipping companies including FedEx. NOTHING is going in or out of the most important manufacturing hub in the world right now, and there is no timeframe on when it may reopen.
Supposedly, this is due to a Coronavirus outbreak. We all know that reason is crap. I suspect the invasion of Taiwan is about to begin. Can't think of any other event big enough to warrant this.
Just thought I would pass along the information in case anyone had any doubts.
If you arent like me and fascinated by world history, I think its time everyone should familiarize themselves with Taiwans history so you arent fooled by false narratives as easily.
Taiwan has never been a part of China. When Commodore Perry asked the Qing Emperor if he controlled Taiwan in 1854, the Emperor responded that Taiwan was full of barbarians and that nobody controlled it. China had annexed Taiwan in 1684 but no serious effort was ever made to govern it until the 1870s.
After the first Sino-Japanese War, Taiwan was ceded to Japan as part of its territorial demands. Manchuria was fiercely defended against cessation but Taiwan was given easily. Japan controlled Taiwan from 1895 until the end of WW2. Even today there are many Taiwanese that identify with Japan much more than China.
The Chinese had little to do with Taiwan until Chang Kai-shek fled there in 1949. He hired the infamous Chinese gang, the Green Gang, to dispense street justice on the island and they remain entrenched today. Secret Societies and gangs are prevalent throughout China and Taiwan.
Just a little primer for everyone ;)
