 The reason for Putin's attack on Ukraine is that since the collapse of USSR, Ukraine has transformed into a successful democracy with a president elected by the Deep State.

 Ukraine's economy (drugs, human trafficking, surrogate child bearers, and bioweapons manufacturing) has flourished and Deep State assets are living well whereas in Russia, the Rothschild banking cartel has been thrown out and remaining assets are battling for their very existence.
