We are not a democracy, were a representative republic. Democracy sounds good when you dont think about it too long but when you realize 'full democracy' is just mob rule then it doesnt sound very useful.

We have a Constitutional Republic with representative (democratic) elections - with the federal election being determined by the electoral college (or 50 little 'democratically determined' elections.)
