So Crackpipe Jr has this laptop that has all kinds of embarrassing/incriminating/illegal stuff on it. Now, hes worth conservatively what, a few mil? Maybe $10m+? And this is a few year old macbook that he could replace and just backup everything from the cloud? He decides to take it to a random computer repair place ... and forgets about it?
And computer repair guy decides to look at it and sees all this debauchery. Then decides not to give it to local PD, not to the FBI, not to DOJ, but Rudy?
Just seems like a lot of things seemed to go just right to have it appear in public domain. Also see daughter Bidet's diary, very similar situation.
I believe computer repair guy did try to give it to PD and FBI, but no-one wanted to touch it with a bargepole.
Rudy was the last resort. And yes, Rudy is a famous lawyer, so likely to get this type of case landed. When people are desperate they might rack their memory and find Rudy there, because he is trusted. Not a fluke.
Also, a crack-smoking dude might well want his laptop repaired, given that it was chock-full of stuff. In the interim he would buy a new computer. The new computer may well be the reason he forgot to pick up the old one, however. Oooops.
Furthermore, one would be careful about putting 'everything on a cloud' given the TNT nature of the information, dontyathink?
