The Russians know what they are doing.
They used 50 or so aircraft on continual rolling sorties with very little downtime in Syria and absolutely hammered ISIS. They killed thousands of them.
I guess this incursion does not require aircraft. They can use stand-off missiles to destroy targets. Aircraft are more vulnerable I suppose. The difference is that Ukraine is right next to Russia so the Russians have control over the territory via missiles and have surveillance via satellite ( I suppose ) so no need for air.
The Russians are trying to avoid killing people and unfortunatlely, Russian forces need to do street battle with the nazis who are using civilians as human shields. I guess aircraft would not help. It's messy an personal soldier on nazi battles.
They can use air power but wouldn't even need to fly into Ukraine air space.
Yes, they have their Kaliber and Kinzhal (dagger) supersonic guided missiles. They are really good and nothing can stop them. The Russians took out a CIA headquarters in Syria which was hidden in difficult territory with one of these missiles. I think is was fired from a boat in the black sea. The CIA never saw it coming. it was revenge for the 100 Russians killed by the US in Deir ez zour.
Your posts have cheered me up - winning! Go Vlad!
That's really great!
I watched Syria closely as well as Ukraine. Now that's paying off.
Two words: civilian casualties
