It is a good starting point that is nearly always "right".
However, chromosomes are just a plan and the basic plan is executed in nine months with no possibility of any rework. So, if you have the plan for a two storey building and the materials don't arrive for the upper floor but they arrive on-time for the roof, what do you end up with?
Have you built a bungalow? Your plan says "house" but the appearance is "bungalow". What are the stairs for?
If you hold to this kind of pretzel twisting you literally cannot define anything, ever. What’s a chair? Something to sit on? So, if someone doesn’t actually use it for that purpose is it still a chair? Okay a chair is something that you ‘can’ sit on and has 4 legs. So, if one of those legs are broken is it still a chair? I could go on.
The chromosomes do indeed define man or woman. It doesn’t change because you decide that YOU don’t agree with those chromosomes later on down the line. I miss the days when you could just be a more feminine man/masculine woman. Life was so much simpler then
The analogy I use is this: if I was going to report a missing person, what would report that person as being, what they ARE or what they THINK they are? If they stumble across a mangled body, so beyond recognition and have use DNA to ID. The DNA comes back and says that body is this, well it can't be them because they identify as that. We have wandered into the world of stupid and I for one am tired of this vacation.
There are, in fact, three genders for humans. There is male (xy) female (xx) and intersex (chromosome alphabet soup). But that's really it.
Some organisms have more. Even neuter.
Every time this question about sex comes up people fall into two camps. There are the ones who think they can be whatever sex they want and the ones who think it is a strictly binary choice that was set in place at conception.
Neither group is entirely correct.
According to you they aren’t correct. Doesn’t mean they’re not correct.
Seems pretty straightforward to me. It’s a label determined by chromosomes. No need to make it more complicated than that
All these people have XY chromosomes.
From: http://modeducation.blogspot.com/2010/12/are-boys-and-girls-really-that.html
In nearly all cases you can determine the sex of a person by determining whether they have either XX or XY chromosomes but that does not cover every case.
For instance, some people do not have either XX or XY chromosomes. What sex are they?
Similarly, some people can appear to be female but have an XY chromosome. And vice versa.
It doesn't matter how much you do not want that to be true those are the facts. Look at some of the numbers in this article on Sex Chromosome Abnormalities. Numbers around 1 in 1000 are common so that is 8 million of each type in the world.
This is supposed to be a research-based site but very few seem to research anything on gender and sex before they post. Some even resort to name calling. That is exactly what the lefties do. Disagree with them and they call you names. It doesn't matter whether you are right or not.
