Huh? If you wish to break rules and leave against policy, then yes, you would be truant.
But you've completely missed my point. I'm talking about school policy, not breaking rules. Something tells me there's more than a couple decades between us.

Ok Captain Semantics, what’s the difference between policy and rules?
"Policy" generally means accepted protocol, or an expected protocol based upon prior statements or guidelines. "Rules" are loosely based laws of an institution, of which there are specific consequences for breaking...outside of official legal authority.
Both words are occasionally interchanged...sometimes "policy" carries consequences when it is not followed.
