Engine aside, there is a build of Chromium that is runnable as a browser like Chrome but without all of the extra Google bells and whistles. It's the same icon but with shades of blue instead of the Chrome colors. It's common on Linux.
It may be much harder to get away from Google/Alphabet than you think. Most browsers are based on Chromium open source code.
Maybe your thinking Brave browser, yup Brave is Chromium based. Microsoft Edge is Chromium based. Mozilla is Gecko-based. Mozilla name was formed from Mosaic Killer. Mosaic based browsers were IBM Webexplorer, and Internet explorer 1.x
Last stat I seen was that only .03 percent of the world uses non-Chromium based browsers.
I suspect that Google warning is not limited to just Chrome, but to any Chromium based browser which includes Microsoft Edge, and Brave, but I could be wrong.
Do not disagree with you. Every time my computer applies another Microsoft update I envision in my mind that I am really loading just one more backdoor for NSA/CIA to spy on me.
Why anyone would use chrome is beyond me.
Get away from Google/Alphabet services. "but it's convenient" is not a valid excuse to continue, especially with alternatives.
In some application environments Chrome, or Chromium based Edge browser are only supported options.
What do you use?
Brave or a de-googled Chromium
What is de-googled Chromium?
Both Brave and Chrome are both build from Chromium engine (See Chromium Project). Mozilla is built on Gecko-based engine.

And supposedly that build of chromium is suppose to be more than just buggy

Good point, anon, alternatives like Firefox, Pale Moon, etc. exist to fight it anons.
Firefox is as bad as Google now. Just FYI.
Also, Chromium is open source. Chrome is not. You can see what it does.
On the non-chromium side there's pale moon Chromium isn't bad, just the Chrome google bs.
The question is: OR WHAT?
What are the implications of not heeding their warning?
What are they really doing?
I agree that there may be more to this than we are being told. The official fix to vulnerability is update version from .82 to 99.0.4844.84
FTFY: Google is selling all of our data to China again.
Again? When did they stop?
What the fuck? 3.2 billion chrome users? Really?
I... What's the population of earth right now? I guess some people use chrome on more than one device, but really? 3.2 billion?
Last stat I seen was that only .03 percent of the world uses non-Chromium based browsers.

Population is about 8 billion I think?
They always tell us what they are going to do to us. Very polite people.
Now that you know, if you use Chrome, make sure you install the emergency update to version 99.0.4844.84
Oh yes cause google loves us and so the patch will certainly be goodness and honest! Switch to Brave
Which is built on chrome. If the backdoor is built deep into the sauce, many browsers likely effected as they are built on chromium.
