tyvm for a great explanation. i've had this understanding for 50yrs. many ppl don't appreciate the earthy connection to God's kingdom. i don't think very many religions teach this
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Actually, there is an understandable reason for this.
Christian theology developed and grew on the basis of an imperfect relationship with Christ. How so?
When confronted with the faithlessness of the Jewish people (who should have believed in him. ("Master, What is the will of God?" "To believe in him who He has sent.") Jesus had no choice except to offer his body as ransom to recover humankind. This is the salvation thru the cross. Spiritual salvation.
However, if the people had faith in him, Jesus would have been able to offer both spiritual and physical salvation at that time. Why? Because Jesus could forgive sins even before the cross. It's the faith and acceptance of Jesus that is the condition for salvation.
For the first part of his ministry, Jesus spoke all about repenting because he Kingdom was at hand. It's only later, when the people's faith was not forthcoming, that he began to explain that he would suffer at the hands of the people, and go the crucifixion path.
So, instead of living his whole life, to a ripe old age, directly educating the disciples, with a growing family, community, society, and whole nation surrounding him and accepting him, Jesus had to offer his body as a ransom due to their faithlessness. ("There are many things I have to teach you, but you cannot bear them now")
Even Paul admits that his understanding was limited and that at some future point, he would know clearly, "even as I am known".
Jesus death was not the preferred route. "To obey is better than sacrifice" 1 Samuel 15:22. If the Israelites had obeyed, in faith, and received Jesus, then the Kingdom would have manifested on Earth directly at that time. Instead, because Jesus body was offered up as the sacrifice (due to their faithlessness and disobedience), the manifesting of the Kingdom on the Earth was postponed until the Second Coming.
Thus, Christianity has been a "spiritual only" religion. ("Paul: with my mind i serve the law of God, but with my body, I serve the law of sin. Who will rescue me from this body of death?"). There has been a strong tendency to focus only on the spirit because the flesh realm has still been unde the Devil's control, including our bodies.
You are correct, that much of religion does not teach this. It's spiritual ignorance.
Jesus had only 3 years of public ministry before he died as a sacrifice. Imagine if the people had obeyed, believed. Jesus himself could have written books, explained everything in detail, and educated his people. Instead, he had to educate from the spiritual realms, via instruments that were NOT on his level.
This is WHY "now we see through a glass, darkly".
But the core content is there. It requires us being sensitive to the Holy Spirit to grasp it and understand it.
As the time grows ripe, God has begun to reveal these things far clearly than over the past 2000 years. Is it a coincidence that the time period from Abraham to Jesus (the first coming) was 2000 years, and the time period from Jesus until now, is 2000 years? No.
Now, as the great awakening is unfolding, God is revealing more and more. Christians are learning that restoration is part of the salvation plan. Our understanding is increasing, moving from theory towards knowledge.
Personally, I believe that once the corruption ruling the world is steadily removed (after all, the Cabal is the system via which Satan has maintained his dominion over our world), there will be a great awakening in the spirit, one that has never before been seen in history.
