You forgot to calculate in those who would listen to their father and the news rather than just the news. If the father is a zealot who only listens to the news then he turns the daughter or son into the same as him. So it probably is 15-20% affected from the nucleus of the die-hard immovables.
To reach the initial 5-10% onwards from the kool-aid drinkers you'd have to presumably break up families or stage interventions which isn't practical or desirable. Removing "journalism" becomes the thing to do.
