If the perp was running away, it does not look good that the perp is shot. Running away means no longer a threat and should have been let go.
Ending a life for material possession will be frowned upon in court. IANAL.
The guy deserves a crime busters reward.
Unfortunately, he will spend time in jail. Having a CCW is for self "defense". This is not a self defense shooting.
They held a gun to his chest and was pointing at him as they took off with his stuff. Justified.
I do not think justified. From the video footage, all we see is the perps running away. We do not see the perps pointing their guns at the victim while running away out of frame. All we see is the victim chasing the perps and shooting his weapon. Looks like the victim even fired his weapon and missed because you can see plaster eject from the pillar at :37. We would need to see another angle to see if the perps pointed their gun at the victim while running away.
The victim even says he yelled "stop" as the perps were running away. Victim likely wanted his stuff back. Should have just let them go.
Probably an accurate statement but put me on the jury and he skates. I'm tired of these punks pulling this shit. Couldn't care less the perp is dead.
Correct. It's a great way to get locked up for a long time.
Stand your ground state. Grow up.
Florida "stand your ground" refers to dwellings, residence, or vehicle.
no duty to retreat if either:
the person reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself, or another, or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony; or
the person acts under and according to the circumstances set forth in Section 776.013 (presuming a reasonable belief as to the necessity of force in the context of ‘dwellings,’ residences, or vehicles).
Learn to read before you get all grown up.
Was this not just outside his dwelling? I’d assume still on his property? Looks like he was also reasonably believing imminent death or great bodily harm to himself.
Stand your ground= you have zero duty to retreat- your body and life ARE your property and you have the right to defend YOURSELF as well as your shit
