They vastly prefer smaller prey. Birds, turtles, fish, small mammals, yes keep the kids away

They arent crocs, who hunt big game and actively seek to rip you to pieces for swallowing. Gators PREFER stuff already that size if possible, and view humans as something to avoid or a mild annoyance in their peaceful gatorly existence
