You don't understand how an ER works. ER staff sometimes are taking on way too many responsibilities and there's acute cases waiting. Pending area, it could be gunshots, strokes, heart attacks. Nothing is "a simple PCR test". Every time someone sees the patient, they have to write a report.
Intake reports take 2 hours to write.
Seeing a patient and writing a note with medical decision making takes, on a minimum, 30 minutes.
Keep in mind, there are people waiting who are literally having HEART ATTACKS or STROKES or dying because their blood pressure is 60/40 and they need fluids.
BTW, ER doctors/NPs/PAs get their scores downvoted to hell if their patients die. The whole point of EMERGENCY is that it takes care of EMERGENCIES. Getting a PCR is nowhere NEAR an emergency. Nowhere near. Not even close. Not even by a long shot.
So tbh, your family friend should've planned better. PCR is not an emergency. Tell her to stop abusing the EMERGENCY system. She should've gone to her PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR to get PCR a week ago.
Oh and just to clarify, that includes looking over a patient's chart, which takes time, talking to patient, which takes time, checking medications, which takes time, looking over labs, which takes time, looking over images or last known images, which takes time, talking with patient, which takes time, going back and actually writing the note, which takes time, and since it's the ER, can't discharge until they're certain you won't drop dead. Which, tbh, with some people, once they're checked in, they're auto admit because of their shitty physical condition.
So while I love a good bitch session about how shitty ERs are, people that abuse the EMERGENCY system with non emergencies actually contribute to the problem.
You know that people died before vaccines were around, right? RIGHT? Like, noone lives forever. RIGHT?!
I'm noticing ambulances almost every day now. I can't think of a time in my life in which I have seen so frequent ambulances. Cherry lights on any vehicle is an eye-catcher. To me, it is the most eye-catching thing while traveling on the streets.
In FL, Volusia County specifically, there's rapid testing sites. Multiple sites. You wait in line, IN YOUR CAR longer than it takes to perform the test. They let it sit for 15 minutes, then analyze it on site. It can take up to 1 1/2 hrs before you're emailed the results. They test for anti bodies AND the actual "virus." HOWEVER, you're usually on the way home when you get that email. (at least, that's been my experience every time I've been there.) Every significant city in this county has at least one site. And I'm positive the whole State has these sites.
Oh, and you have the option of taking the rapid PCR test, or the other one (can't remember which test it actually is atm, but that's the one that usually takes up to 1 1/2 hrs.)
So, there you have it. Also, every clinic and every hospital in the State does these tests and others, every...single...day. So there's no reason why any other State can't, either, because there's many many States with a lot lower populations than FL.
That operator was giving straight BS most likely. At the hospital I work at I can come in the entrance, grab a SELF test kit. Use it, drop it off, then wait appx. 3hrs and have the results back.

GOD. DAMN.
Thank you for reinforcing my opinion on doctors that I will never go near one again
By all means! If you can't understand that Emergency Rooms are meant for EMERGENCIES, I have nothing else to say.
I hope you get past that, emergency rooms are meant to strip you of your money as if it is an emergency. Allopathy is a very dark art, please stop.

That was never the main point of the original post.
so you spent paragraphs bitching about the ER staff. k.

What ever kind of weed you smoke, please send me a sample. Thanks in advance.

The actual virus ROTFLMBO
This👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻! They’ve NEVER isolated the coronavirus named “Covid=19”.

I think you're full of shit.
