He's the master of being in the right place at the right time. Tesla came around at the perfect time to milk the federal government for their carbon credits, PayPal came around during a huge internet shopping boom, and starlink is coming around at a time when 3rd world populations are starting to demand internet service.
He got lucky with PayPal becoming huge, and then abused the federal government's stupid laws to become a multi billionaire. Wouldn't call him a ripoff artist but he's far from a genius
You don't have to be a physicist to be a genius. He has a high intelligence in foreseeing successful ventures and taking advantage of it.
IIRC He also committed to SpaceX so much so that he almost went bankrupt, secured a final loan and after many failed takeoffs finally got a successful test run that secured the future of the company.
If true, there's something to be said for that as well.
Not sure what his inner intentions are, but he, like Trump, learned to weaponize Twitter to make it a highly effective tool.
Tesla has no business trading as high as it dies, yet the man single handedly rose the stock of that company absurdly.
Hard to find fault with someone being perceptive enough to see both need and opportunity and actually do something about it while becoming ever more prosperous. You think God has nothing to do with people's intuition and inspirations? Being "in-tune" is both a cosmic and intellectual matter. Tesla understood this.

Luck?
Or plan?
Dawg, we need a frontman for our new initiative, so the plebes don't start complaining about government overreach, monopoly, RICO, and shi-et.
You'll get rich. Stupid rich.
We gotta get some dirt on you, though. Don't worry. That's between you and me. But that's how we roll, ya know what I'm sayin, dawg?
