PA anon here, county republican member running for reelection in May. Oz has ZERO chance in PA. None. I don't care what the polls say. Not a chance in PA.
FTA: Trump agrees that Oz’s television success with his daytime audience is a good indication that he can be successful in the race.
So then never mind that he's antigun and has other non MAGA positions, that he has rather dubious connections, that he'll likely vote more often with Dems than not, and that he doesn't even live in PA.
The simple one that Melania Trump is a big fan of Dr. Oz and encouraged her husband to endorse him. Don’t underestimate Melania’s influence here. Trump often refers to her as a top advisor, someone whose opinion he values.
ok, we can disagree on that then...
"A straw man is a form of argument and an informal fallacy of having the impression of refuting an argument, whereas the real subject of the argument was not addressed or refuted, but instead replaced with a false one."
You said Trump wants "successful endorsements" which you equate to "want[ing] a winner." Kampfer pointed out this is not really "winning" and implied in that criticized Trump for endorsing a loser (even a possible winning one). You even say you don't disagree but accuse him of erecting a straw man, which wasn't really the case. A straw man is typically used to deflect an argument entirely, not generate further discussion along the same lines particularly with one who fundamentally agrees in the first place.
Means he's next in the crosshairs, and psychology. Art of War.
Interesting article, OP.
I think many enemies have been trying to make a big fuss over this, hoping to cause division and depression.
Let's see how it plays out.
Trump needs the Pepe army to help him vet candidates.

If Trump gives his seal of approval, that’s all we need to know imo.
Trump said the Covid jabs are a good thing. Did you do that?
Shit answer. He's even retracted endorsements. I am waiting to see if some sense comes out of this one but I have my doubts.
Funny how he is a Genius and has complex abilities of thought to our community until…..
Just saying.
Melanie and Oprah?
Who?
He can always retract it.... is it too late anyway for anyone else to run?
What if Trump doesn't like either one and know dr oz is going to be indicted sometime soon....
Oz is leading over the next likely one, Sands….20% to 11%. Trump wants successful endorsements….maybe was influence by Ivanka and jarrod…..
The only reason it seems he endorsed Oz was because of bad advice, or ego….wants a winner.
Winning over good and right? Is that winning?
Notice, I said Trump wants a winner…. So I’m not discussing your straw man…sorry…..but I don’t disagree.
LOL that's not a straw man, it's argument in principle.
It had zero to do with Oz and Trump, but was a much larger philosophical discussion....hence, yes, straw man.
Maybe someone else will discuss this with you, as I said I don't disagree with the larger premise.
I'm not looking for discussion, I'm saying your assertion "straw man" was incorrect.

You have to lose some battles to win the war.
I think that we have that part down.
