I'm not gonna dive into the absurdities of God demanding that Christ die for sin as if God alone doesn't have the power to forgive individuals on an individual basis.
With that written, early Christians did not use the cross. It appeared in the Roman empire and IF it were attributed to Christ, it would have been used by his followers immediately after his death. It was not. Just like the Catholic church, it is a Roman association and has nothing to do with Christianity.
In fact, there are text that outright deny the use of a cross as public execution at the time due to lack of timber but rather a stake where people were nailed with their hands above their head and feet hanging below the waste where the body was vertical entirely.
You're understanding of Christianity is heavily polluted by the Catholic church which is arguably a top contender for corruption.
There isn't a single area of the Bible that mentions Jesus dying for sin on a cross. It's as simple as that lol
Show me where in the bible it states he died on the cross. Remember, "cross" is what we are looking for. There is no mention of a cross but several that translate from Greek into "timber" or "stake" no mention of a cross whatsoever.
The fact that the "cross" symbolism did not exist until 300 years later is further proof it is Roman nonsense.
1 Peter 3:18 18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
Matthew 27:35 35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
Isaiah 53:5 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Mark 8:34 34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Matthew 10:38 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
KJV? lmao. Dude, if you wanna take a deep dive into Christianity you need to get into language studies. The original word used to describe what they used is "xyʹlon" which translates into timber, stake or tree.
Cross is a very, very specific word. You're using a Bible translated in the 1600's.
If you knew anything about modern Christianity, you would understand how influenced it is by Roman Pagan worship.
Using KJV is hilarious lol
I asked you very specifically where it says cross and you bring up Muslim stuff lol
Ok well if you think the main symbology regarding Jesus dying is irrelevant and that it's associating came 300 years after his death in a pagan dominated part of the world, deeply used by pagans, then you are lost beyond belief.
You are manipulating falsehoods to cement your belief. That's all lol.
What happened on the “tree,” “wood,” “steak” whatever term you have the ability to be satisfied with (anything other than cross) is not relevant
Language is important, my friend. It's unreal that you have manipulated yourself so hard that you can't even fathom that the cross has nothing to do with Christ or his death but rather was associated to him by others that had nothing to do with him.
And the fact that you used the KJV is even more laughable.
I think the JW's say Jesus was crucified on a stake, not a cross. They also deny that he is God in human flesh, denying the deity of Christ. If you attend JW church, you should run, not walk, to the nearest exit. Notice they don't have a cross on their church, a common indication that a denomination is a cult, denying the deity of Christ.
In order for a perfect God to claim the authority to forgive sin, He paid the price for our sin. Such a simple concept and expression of His perfect love.
I am not a JW nor a member of their church. I just don't believe in idol worship, nonsense like the cross which was adapted centuries later, English versions of the bible which which all derive from latin versions commissioned by the Romans who corrupted Christianity so their populations would remain part of the system and especially don't believe in modern American Christianity which is all about Israel.
I'm in search of the truth. I've been to Lebanon and there is a sect that doesn't believe in the Trinity. Now am I supposed to take them and their roots more seriously considering they come from the region Christ was in or some American version heavily influenced by Rome?
We'll see where this leads but I sure as hell am not gonna take people who think language isn't important.
Not sure what you don't understand. There is no mention of a cross in the bible lol. The cross has nothing to do with Christianity because it wasn't used and was associated centuries AD. This isn't difficult.
CROSS appears in Scripture MANY times, in context of the Crucifixion and in suffering. From the Douay Rheims, directly translated from the Latin Vulgate, here are a few:
And bearing his own cross, he went forth to that place which is called Calvary, but in Hebrew Golgotha." [John 19:17]
And going out, they found a man of Cyrene, named Simon: him they forced to take up his cross." [Matthew 27:32]
And saying: Vah, thou that destroyest the temple of God, and in three days dost rebuild it: save thy own self: if thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross." [Matthew 27:40]
"He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the king of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him." [Matthew 27:42]
Let Christ the king of Israel come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him." [Mark 15:32]
And whosoever doth not carry his cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple." [Luke 14:27]
And Pilate wrote a title also, and he put it upon the cross. And the writing was: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS." [John 19:19]
"Now there stood by the cross of Jesus, his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalen." [John 19:25]
"Then the Jews, (because it was the parasceve,) that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath day, (for that was a great sabbath day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away." [John 19:31]
For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of speech, lest the cross of Christ should be made void." [1 Corinthians 1:17]
"For the word of the cross, to them indeed that perish, is foolishness; but to them that are saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God." [1 Corinthians 1:18]
"For I, through the law, am dead to the law, that I may live to God: with Christ I am nailed to the cross." [Galatians 2:19]
"And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? Then is the scandal of the cross made void." [Galatians 5:11]
Old Greek is the original. Not the Latin Vulgate. In fact, Old Greek is where the Latin translations come from. The "cross" is nowhere in the Old Greek. The cross was introduced by Constantine and the Latin Bibles came after Constantine introduced it, commissioned by Pope Damasus.
