During the medieval era, Christians believed that the pentagram symbolized the five wounds of Christ and it was used to ward off evil spirits. For the first few hundred years after Christ’s death, the pentagram was the primary symbol of the Catholic Church. Early Christians used the pentagram to represent the Star of Bethlehem.
The temples of the (Mormon) Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are adorned with the pentagram, and it is used in their ceremonies.
Without any other symbols or other signs being present, it's quite a stretch to call it "Satanic".
For some people (mostly pagans) the pentagram is just a symbol of protection or wealth.
I would just ignore it. Sand and re-finish the nice hardwood floors... and then get on with decorating the home. Besides, that looks like an amateur job of scratching a pentagram anyway... so very likely not an organized effort by a group or by some dedicated individual. It was more likely done by an idiot.
I'm not even that old (but pretty old), and until recently my impression was that the pentagram star was protective: people summoning demons in fiction summoned them inside the pentagon part because the demons couldn't get out. Same with the seal of Solomon. All of a sudden geometry has acquired new meanings. And you notice it's all evil. No one ever mentions wards or images of faith.
