I’m just glad he’s safe. Honestly I think the media surge of interest in his fate may have kept them from doing anything horrible. Too much attention on him and his fate would have been bad for their faltering narrative.

In December 2017, the UN mission in Ukraine expressed concerns about a situation with "freedom of opinion and expression" in Ukraine which facing "mounting challenges". According to the UN reports the SBU is taking advantage of broad interpretation and application of Ukrainian Criminal Code against independent Ukrainian journalists, bloggers, and media activists.[68]

Well, he was picked up by the SBU and held for a week, so I think a little concern was justified.
