Because like food, water is necessary for life and ALSO like food, water isn't equally distributed or free.
Yes, SOME food is free -- if you're where the food grows or lives; an apple off a tree by your house for instance. SOME water is also free, IF/WHEN you have rain or if you've got a well or stream or whatever.
Does Los Angeles naturally have enough water for its 10 million people? Of course not. It costs money to build canals or desalination plants or other methods of obtaining water, just as it costs money to grow food and get it to market.
You use boomer as thought you think you know what it means. Baby boomers are typically over 70yrs old this point -- hardly the average age of anyone here.
But then again, you'll respond with the retarded "ok boomer" as though you proved your point.....which you didn't, you simply proved you don't know wtf you are talking about, just like the rain water.

In some dry states you cannot collect rainwater. It is a crime unless you own the water rights.
As stupid as that might sound to some here, this is entirely true.

And they steal it from the States the Colorado river runs through.
