Not sure why things like this happen. Theories:
Every politician is embedded in so much corruption, there is seemingly no hope to have an uncorrupted politician today.
Some politicians are playing some sort of political game, trying to achieve maximum effect, hiding the cards in their hand. Their hand may have cards good or bad (for We the People).

Trump was the only politician in my lifetime who wasn't corrupt, it's sad but I think it's theory 1 unfortunately.
