I work in this field so I am very curious about their infrastructure and CDN services.
Basically what I saw for rumble is all Cogent. Cogent is pretty famous for no deplatforming. When I say that they get requests for known spam operations / malware and won’t back out of the service contracts. They don’t give two shits.
In 2006 I worked for Kim Dotcom as a dedicated colo technician tech. He would ship in parts and I would replace hardware etc. my contact was a dude named Matthias Ortmann who I spoke to daily. Mathias is now wrapped up w Kimble in a weird extradition thing.
Now what isn’t said is a LOT of these types of folks run their own CDN. They did it even in 2006 by placing colocated servers in as many data centers in as many networks as possible so that traffic could re-route in high availability.
Rumble offering services here isn’t a bad idea: the biggest worry anyone has is being taken offline.
I can't say that I'm all too thrilled about Rumble now... But I can get behind the competition that Scamazon will get. I just hope its not a Diet Pepsi vs Coke competition. Just saying...
That's probably true, certainly in the near future. But for those who don't want to have to trust Amazon to play fair with them, having a pro-freedom competitor -- including one without all the bells, whistles, tools, plans, etc that Amazon does -- should be a big win. And if Rumble handles things well, it will grow.
And yes, any centralized cloud will be vulnerable to certain downsides. What isn't?
Its not just ease of use. AWS has mountains of infrastructure that make it work like does. They literally have ASIC network cards and zonal redundancy within regions etc. Google and Microsoft both tried to compete and have a better user experience but aren’t even close in scale.
What will keep Rumble Cloud from being infiltrated and corrupted from within? It's very hard to control who comes into your organization. The Civil Rights act of 1964 was enacted for a reason.
While I wouldn't discourage the creation of Rumble Cloud or such places, I do feel it misses the point. Your fixing a symptom and not a cause.
A rumbling cloud portends a storm.
Oh cool. That's why they still haven't fixed their app.
They need to hire some UI/UX engineers asap
Looks like a backend developer just threw up all over the page lol
Whew is this UI?

Yeah I wouldn’t trust their backend one bit, unfortunately
Holding CFVI at a loss until 2023 I guess!
Same
I'm pretty excited about it! There have been no feasible alternatives to liberal tech giant cloud infrastructure services, until now
Cloud Services?! No, I'm good.
It's talking about server hosting

Absolutely zero chance this rivals AWS. Its also still a centralized Cloud.

Hosting at hole or in a colo data center. No one needs the Cloud. Rumble is VC funded. If their cloud is successful they will become AWS.
Yeah, until I can get a turn-key to launch in just a few min, they are not comparable, and I might as well buy a dedicated slice somewhere.
