They'll start eating each other. And flowing out into the farm areas to TRY to steal whatever they can. I can think of about 20k high velocity reasons that they won't succeed.
They do NOT want to be coming out to the country. That will be a bad move as I'll be forced to protect my family and property like you. I'm not looking forward to doing it, but will do the work that needs to be done when my hand is forced.
They think of us all as stupid hillbillies, but don't realize that hillbillies and farmer/cowboy types are the exact kind of people who can make due and still sustain a stable and prosperous livelyhood.
They are going to find out, we are the majority, by a very big margin and they aren't going to like it one bit.
I recently fitted my entire property with motion sensors, coupled with a closed camera system. I have a pretty good idea what's happening on my property at any given time.
Exactly, i have family in tennessee, up in da hills. The world could end tomorrow and they're the only ones left, and they wouldnt even know. No tv or internet, very little connection to the outside world. Life would just continue as it always has.
The hog problem in TN and KY would keep the country folk fed forever.
Where life is going to be flipped on its head is in big cities. Grocery stores would be empty day 1.
I'm looking at some land in WV. I need to stop dragging my feet and just purchase some asap. If shit hits the fan, at least I could just tow my camper out there and big out for a while. Tennessee is a great state to consider also.
Its beautiful all through there. Western parts of Virginia and north carolina as well.
I love the Shenandoah region immensely, you're right it's sure a beautiful place. But, I'm not trusting a historically Blue state to stay Red for very long. They will do anything over the next 2 years to get Younkin out of there and then it's back to the normal.
Not really true in the western parts of the state. Big city cheating is a problem.
Unfortunately that effects the whole state as you know.

There wont be millions leaving the city though. The conflict will engulf everyone. They'll raid stores and factories for weeks then turn on each other.
Small groups might try to venture out but most will be too sick and malnourished to do much of anything. Try not eating for a week and see how far out in the country you want to venture.
If it happens during the winter then forget about it, they're all toast in week. Anyone that leaves the city will be found thawing in the spring.
Becoming overwhelmed is a very real possibility. At that point you have to take your chances and do what you have to do. I would think that once the reality sets in for them as to what's happened, they will probably flee.
They will be just as well armed but with overwhelming numbers. Enclosed communities where everyone protects it is going to be your only hope. You will only be able to kill so many before you are over run.

When the food runs out they burn EVERYTHING to the ground. Your little bit of ammo and food stash won't save you from the fire and the looting. Living in enclosed communities where everyone protects it is going to be your only hope. Living out in the country with just you and your family won't save you. The sheer numbers of the starving will bury you.
I have family that will converge here. Very skilled (Military, LEO, EMT), very well armed, will be bringing more supplies with them. I can sustain 20 people here for MONTHS and defend 24/7. We've been planning for years.

For us it was the blu ray players. In the old days your cheapest option for HD resolution movies was actually the PS2 which is a contributing factor for their insane sales numbers. This is why folks were rioting on black Friday. They had no name blu ray players on sale for $99. A ps2 was $300 on release in 2000 and didn't drop to $200 until 2002. It's actually weird to think about ppl fighting over cheap TVs when they're soooo cheap now.
