One of my good friends was bitten by one of these ticks. Had alpha-gal allergies for quite some time, but he has worked his way back to being able to eat most things again.
A coworker got bitten by one of these ticks a few years ago. He's almost back to normal now with only a slight intolerance towards certain red meats now. He has trouble with duck and venison still, but can eat a burger once again.
If I recall, he had mentioned the tick bite also caused an intolerance to alcohol as well.
Guess Alcoholics Anonymous got it wrong on no cure for alcoholism.

Actually, this can be said for many ailments. I developed pancreatitis after a rather invasive surgery a few years ago. I have a lot of trouble breaking down certain alcohols now. I can drink a couple of beers, or have say one grain alcohol mixed drink with minimal repercussions.
However, if I drink any wine, tequila, or hard liquor straight it really screws me up in a bad way! Not in the drunk sense, but I have this crazy reaction as if my legs turn to jelly and I get a strange fever sensation that can last for hours. Certain foods will trigger this too, so it's not just booze in general. For example, Popeyes Chicken or Chinese take out screw me up worse than the booze. I'm guessing it's probably preservatives or oil/fat content in those foods.
Gotta say, it definitely curbed my drinking! I can maybe drink a couple super light beers while mowing or cooking outside during the warm months, that's my threshold now. Sometimes I miss it socially, but it's rare for me to go out to eat or drink anymore due to the pancreatic attacks anyway lol.
I used to drink every other day, but when I awakened from my mental slumber in 2018, it seems God made the cravings go away, and havent drank since then.
I never thought I could ever stop drinking and would eventually put me in the grave. Now, if only I could quit smoking. <looks up to God>
I adamantly believe you, the lord has done amazing things regarding the awakening, anons, and the world as a whole. The awakening (in tandem with starting a family) also helped me overcome decades of leisurely partying.
I never really struggled with addiction so to speak, it was always easy for me to flip the party switch off. Never any love or life lost due to it. However, I am in the same boat as you regarding cigarettes. I've definitely cut back and can choose to not smoke easily enough, but with my digestive issues I've found the lack of eating and appetite is helpfully suppressed by smoking. But, just like the booze if I smoke too much it can kick my lipase levels into a frenzy.
Im not ready to quit, but if the good Lord guides me to do so, then His will be done!

East Coast. NC. He still has some issues with dairy, but for the most part he's back to normal. Chicken, turkey, fish, fruits and veggies was the diet for over a year. Even most seasonings would close his throat up.
Eat bugs people, you know it makes sense.
