Ahhhh. February? That definitely makes this a planned leak. I questioned earlier why SCOTUS considered this in the first place. Why now? They could have tabled this 'draft' ruling until after the mid-terms.
Why a draft ruling of this in February? Why did they even consider it in the first place? Consider all the other earlier times it could have been considered, but was rejected outright.
Was this draft ruling suppose to be be kept secret until the mid-term elections? It appears this 'leak' is way too early for that.
Will it now be memory holed? I don't believe SCOTUS in the present age intended to overturn Roe v. Wade.
It appears this 'news' was short-circuited with this leak..... a misfire of a sort.
Oral arguments were heard in December 2021.
I think they have to rule before the end of this year’s term in July 2022. So people were expecting a ruling in June or July.
Interesting. The timing of this is IMHO premature. The midterms are in November, The latest date would be then (as you said) June or July, which would better but still not as good as a October release.
I still don't believe SCOTUS has any intention to much with this.... simply because Roberts is there. The draft ruling may be meaningless with somebody like Roberts. Do you recall the Obamacare SCOTUS vote, in which Roberts flipped?
I was in high school, so my recollection of the Obamacare vote is hazy at best.
Roberts is now launching an investigation into the “leak,” so we may very well be seeing the second round of such shenanigans.
But we live in clown world, so who knows.
TGP just reported Roberts sided with the liberal justices on this 'draft' ruling. Same ol' same ol' Roberts. The most hated justice in America.
