You know what it is? Its like the thrill of the chase. Their emotions are sooooo invested in "the chase" that when they finally get what they want they realize life is now boring again and they get depressed. They are not oppressed, civil rights were fought for already, they got what they wanted. But their subconscious doesnt let them internalize this because if its true then they arent being oppressed, their opinions are wrong and just not popular at all. That would send them spiraling into depression, its an internal self preservation mechanism.
