And control. It's far easier to "keep track" of things when you're responsible for those things, and can safely ignore the disinformation aspects we struggle with.

Thats very true as well. In engineering we do have a system of control where certain groups or teams have authority over certain decisions that way everything works in the end. They will communicate with any personnel working on auxiliary equipment so everything is cohesive.
