I somewhat disagree. To me this says criminals will get them illegally. Law abiding citizens do just that, abide by the laws. So gun laws only hurt law abiding citizens and don't stop what they're trying to stop because only the criminals did what they are trying to stop in the first place. Whereas abortions are wrong whether a criminal or law abiding citizen is getting one. Guns have a legal and moral use, abortions don't.
Also as an aside, I can't believe I used to be okay with abortion. It wasn't until the rhetoric of late term abortions being morally acceptable that I ever really questioned abortion more thoroughly. I thought late term is 100% wrong, so where is that line? And then thought even if we find that line we need to have a large safety margin on that as well. I don't think I'll ever be convinced that when sperm meets egg, that is a person.. I still don't see a problem with something like plan B.. but maybe I just have not heard the right argument for that.
I'm at the point where I can see abortion as being acceptable within the first 10 days, but even then it should be rare. Practice safe sex or don't have sex. Maybe if we went back to more traditional values it wouldn't even be an issue.
These dichotomies hurt and help.
Yeah it drives the point that making it illegal doesn't stop it, but it also drives the point that we should make abortion legal in the same vein.

I am a law abiding citizen. Two things:
Out of my cold dead hand.
When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.
