I find it super interesting that people are coming to God in the ways I always felt he wanted us to.
Orthodoxy and all I watched push countless people away. Jesus came to take the Love of God and cover the biggest sinners, most imperfect, most flawed, and most attacked by darkness. He didn’t come to sweep away the perfect most orthodox. The entire reason the went to task with the Philistines and their 300+ rules of Orthodoxy.
God loves you in ways you can’t fathom. It’s boundless and beyond words. You can’t screw up too much. If you remorse and crave to be in his presence and strive to do better - he is there.
So build that personal relationship. Just talk to him. I go on walks. Just me, Him, the sun, wind - I had to learn to be still.
Anyway after awhile you learn He is pretty cheeky. I mean with Billions of Children he’s basically a great appreciator of Hilarious things - like birthing John Durham on 3/16/1950.
I tell you what lol. He’s never stopped me from making a total mess of things. Looking back I can just imagine how hard he was chuckling at my dumbassery.
Great share! I cannot begin to count how many times I have stumbled making poor choices and stupid mistakes in my life. God has always been there to lift me up. When things were dark, he brought the light. I just had to allow myself to see. His humor and irony is ever present. I am so grateful for the lessons I’ve been provided. It has allled up to this point. I’m calm. I have my days when I see things that are so outrageous I just can’t understand. But then I realize God is in control. Whatever is his will shall be done. I am not afraid and look towards my father for protection.
Reading this post with Durham’s birthday is proof of his humor.
Orthodoxy does seem as if there are many rules, but when you realize it has existed for hundred and hundreds of years, mostly unchanged, you know that throughout the years it has picked up many customs and traditions that are a bit foreign to the ways we live now. Nothing is so onerous that it is undoable, it's just a culture. It is not Pharisaical, I dispute that. It is based in love. If all you see is rules in Orthodoxy, you have missed the point. Read the fathers and see what they say.

Jesus was awesome, a true rebel, the ultimate anti hero, the first punk rocker
Idiots with their religions trying to corrupt what He did.
Watch The Chosen. The way Jesus manages the powers that be is awesome.
I mean I get for some people they need that rigid … way.
Not me. I’m divergent as hell. You give me riled paper I am going to write the other way.
For me it was always “what would it take for you to really respect Christ, truly see it’s him & loose doubt of it.”
Well - in a lot of ways the answer was “knowing more than I ever could and that being endearing in ways I can’t put into words.”
People try to understand God without realizing how cocky that is.
Just ask him to help you do a bit better. Be a bit better.
