But like your skills will atrophy without practice, so your immune system will atrophy without germs to practice on.
Obviously you shouldn't go diving into piles of literal shit. But you'll suffer long-term if you don't expose yourself to germs every now and then.
Now that I think about it, germophobes are accidentally reinforcing their own fears--without a strong immune system via exposure to germs, any illness they DO get will be that much more severe, since their bodies don't know how to deal with them!
"But like your skills will atrophy without practice, so your immune system will atrophy without germs to practice on."
I think the great wit and comedic philosopher George Carlin said it best. Listen to the brilliance of his message. Extraordinary. A man who loved the English language and the many oversights of societal paradoxes.
"What do you think you have an immune system for? It' for killing germs. But, it needs practice. It needs germs to practice on."
I can't think of one person, who isn't flawed. Even Lucifer himself provides some nuggets of truth though. It doesn't make him a good person or bad per se. I don't know Carlin's beliefs or was ever in a position to assess his mind. Only that he was gifted with a great wit and ability to articulate subjects like few people can.

Which is exactly where I got that.
Carlin was a very flawed man, especially on abortion. But on this, he hit the bull's eye.
