Its not just how many killed by the wars. Its how many people were never born because of that in future generations and the decline in fertility rate in the aftermath to decimate demographic replacement rate of national populations. The demographic consequences to ethnic Russians has been very dire. Each man killed between WW1&2 in Russia is 6-8 less kids each generation. This compounds each generation.
That's not really true though, because it's women who are fertility bottlenecks, not men. You can decimate the male population but as long as there's a few left the next generation will be about the same numerically.
The difference is culturally. In Britain the aftermath of WW2 saw an increase in single-motherhood and that led to a huge change in societal behaviour. Lack of father figures played its part in the "sexual revolution" - aka societal degeneracy that occurred as that fatherless generation grew up.
It is true. It is written about extensively. What do you think happens in a nation with way more women than men for breeding pairs and marriage? In a Christian culture. With a destroyed society. Some go without. Some go abroad. Years of war and decline also flattening fertility rates. Not to mention all the women that died in the war.
You realize that human fertility rates have always been low when male death rates are high? From the stone age to now? Because they are the production and provisioning of a society. Even today all the jobs women work are largely propped up against the wealth men produce to get redistributed.
Its a researched fact. Its called a demographic echo.
Good point, but (and I honestly want to know) how much of that was made up for when the military returned home and started banging like rabbits? The name Baby Boomers wasn't just plucked out of thin air.
In fact I wonder if the powers that be actually didn't predict the huge rise in birthrates? Did that in fact lead to more US intervention in the world - Korean War, Viet Nam, Gulf Wars, etc.?
Americans don’t count the same. We entered at the end and didn’t suffer at home. Russia and Germany suffered massive massive losses in comparison to the US. And our dudes came home to an intact country. 80 million men died in the Soviet meat grinder. People don’t tealize the Russian Empire and USSR had way more people than the US. They had like 400 million people by WW1. There is a reason “they” genocided Russia.
