What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
Question for gun owners I am thinking about getting the Byma ungun for a sense of safety and personal protection. Since I know nothing about guns I think this might be a good alternative for me to have around and to practice with. I'd like your opinion on whether this is a good alternative or a waste of money.

Kinda expensive for a sense of. There are lots of videos on survival weaponry and personal defense. If you are serious that can get you started. You can spend your money anyway you want to. What you linked to won't save your life in a crisis. Does that help?
Thanks for your comment. I was thinking more on the lines of no registration and no laws to prevent it being carried anywhere. The pepper bullets would get me time to either get away or knock someone out with some other kind of weapon. Not sure I sure I could take a life even if mine was at stake. Then, there is the cost of a gun, bullets I've read are difficult to get and taking lessons and range time would be expensive. Guess I need to do more research and thinking. Thanks.
Please understand if you point that thing at someone with a real gun you should have your funeral arrangements paid for. No disrespect here but firearms skills are worth paying for but not if when the time comes you leave your opponent in tears. As for the range ammo and registration it takes some practice to be capable with anything. Primitive weapons and replica BP arms don't need registration nor do ghost guns. Keep up you interest Fren. We can only hope this stays a hobby and not a necessity.
Good advice, I'll keep it in mind. I need a new hobby to keep my mind busy
I appreciate this thread as I'm also a gun newb.
Been meaning to get around to posting a "Help a beginner out" thread, but have forgotten or gotten busy.
I have started a couple threada before that I've completely gotten sidetracked out of following and I feel awful about it.

The thing about weapons is that they aren't for everyone. Not everyone has the survival mindset ingrained within them. I like to think that everyone has a strong survival instinct, but unfortunately it isn't true. This is the reason for the military and the police. They can go bad sometimes, but the purpose is for protecting those that cannot protect themselves. A firearm is a tool, same as a knife, ax, or even a circular saw. If you are afraid to use them, the results can be more harmful than useful. If you understand the purpose and practice in the use of, you still have to prepare yourself mentally so that you have no overwhelming fear. Start with a 22 long rifle caliber rifle. After practicing with that and becoming confident in training and understanding, you should move to a pistol chambered in the same caliber. If you grow confident in your safe handling and use of the pistol, you can try a centerfire pistol. If you feel that it is not to your liking, you can stop moving up in power. A 22lr rifle is a fantastic subsistence weapon. Small game is readily dispatched in a humane manner and can be necessary for survival. It can also serve as a defensive weapon, if needed. Do not underestimate the lethality of a 22lr, it is just as dangerous as a higher power cartridge, although it has less stopping power. In the right hands, it can be extremely potent and deadly.
