I haven't met Putin. He does run a pretty good game winning support from disgruntled Americans. Maybe if American politicians didn't treat Americans like they are retarded farm animals, this wouldn't be such an issue.
And of course, Putin's true intentions are hard to know, he says many things, you can pick and choose to make your case, but it's unlikely anyone on this site actually knows.
I can agree with both statements.
Putin, as a KGB spy, is good at playing and benefiting division in other countries.
Also, I agree with your second statement, that Putin's motives cannot be trusted.
However, we don't yet agree that this current, complete embarrassment of the Russian armed forces and another totalitarian state being exposed as incompetent and corrupt is a GOOD thing. It will be irrefutable soon.
The bad thing about a collapse of Putin's regime will be how unstable Russia will become. A fractured nuclear state, home to a bunch of Muslim fanatics (who Putin has hired as mercenaries BTW) ... that is going to be a problem.
That's the thing, something may look good because of primary effects, but what about the secondary or tertiary effects? It's actually very hard to help people or fix any kind of problem in the real world because nature always adapts and changes and surprises you with its responses.
I'm all for more human freedom, but how we get there is not at all obvious. I just trust the universe, something good will happen.
