So I was tending to my animals, with my fiance as usual, and heard a helicopter fly really low overhead, freaked me out to hear it that low....boyfriend asked if I saw what kind it was, but I was in the tree line and could only hear it...then we heard it turning around..we heard it coming in close again so we both ran to the barn, again, not noticing what kind it could be...it turned around right after our yard and never came back..I checked my cameras to see if it caught it and my cameras blacked out both times it passed, yet some audio of the helicopter can be heard... highly unusual and we both assumed the other was looking at the helicopter so neither knows who was flying overhead...

Your fiancé was cool with your boyfriend hanging out with you guys? 😁
😂 I use them interchangeably...same, poor dude to put up with my crap 🤣
Just having some fun 😀
Bwahaha
B een noticing massive amounts of air traffic lately. All really lower flying than usual too. Except the ones that fly really high that leave the vapor trails that last for days.
I have seen an insane amount of military helicopter activity off the NJ coast for months. Flying low and loud. Black attack helicopters and Green, Camo and Grey transports that are huge. Multiple times a day. I'm also seeing the occasional fighter jet pairs doing insanely low bottom turns like 200 ft off the ground then disappearing as they head out to sea.
In the past one of these helicopters or planes would have been a big deal to see. I would hear the engines and run out to see what it was. Now its so common it's no big deal anymore. Though the bottom turning jets are still super cool to see.
Same here in Los Angeles, at least with the helicopters. Haven't seen the jets.
it was black...that's as much as I caught... A plane had crashed into a house like 4 houses down from where I was in the past. Now every time I hear anything flying low like that, I run for a "safe" spot...
Is it normal for helicopters to cause interferences with security cameras ?
Not usually, the doppler wouldn't do it and neither would any normal UHF/VHF or even HF radios. Not the transponder either. I doubt even any RWR (radar warning receiver) would interfere with a CCTV.
There's nothing I can think of in a standard helicopter or even many military ones that could stop a camera from working?
Are there such things that can, yes sure, but it's not a standard bit of kit.
EMF weapon would do it.
Except she said it recorded some audio, just not video.
good point.
they're wifi cameras, nest to be exact...then google bought them 😩 already looking in to a different system because of that...
Do you feel you need them at all? Is crime high in your area? If not I'd question why anyone would have them apart from simply because everyone else has. It's not a criticism, just people do not fully understand the implications of all this tech in their homes.
And no I still can't think of anything on a helicopter's standard equipment that would interfere with WiFi cameras.
I live on almost 2 acres countryside, but there's a trailer park next door to us...my cameras have captured a woman getting shot and running from the vehicle back into the park, a few accidents...were put up because of thieves in the park and being suspicious of them shooting BB guns at our horses and dogs.. so yea, crime is good in the country hood...
Sounds not so good for you, I totally get why you would have them, but what did you do before WiFi cameras became a thing? Just asking, I'm lucky as I live in the middle of nowhere and see very few people. PS I'm not in your country either so it's not always familiar to me.
The helicopter could have been looking for a fleeing suspect, either from or heading to the trailer park.
Grab an app called flightradar 24, chances are you'll see it on there next time.
