I suspect it's an issue of trucking and other produce moving logistics.
I'm not a trucker, so all I have to go on is what others report.
And according to what I've been able to find, the cost of diesel has caused some truckers to park their trucks and look for other work, due to not being able to break even on deliveries due to higher fuel costs.
And, the replacement parts is reported as being a serious issue.
What would have been an hour or two in the shop to replace a part is now, according to what I've read, ending up with trucks moved to storage lots due to there being no replacement parts at all, or the back order being months out for the parts when they do exist.
If it's true, then all the food grown and produced even if in abundance doesn't matter. If you can't move it from field to processers to distribution to the stores, then it might as well not exist.
Make the purple hairs hungry and set them on the populace?
