I'm confused. We have been in the exact same place (no meaningful advancement) for probably 12,000 years, after the last reset ("The Flood"). The worst they can do is continue what they have been doing.

Do you honestly believe that such a life has any merit? They aren't stupid. They understand Reality far better than we do. They understand the Universe far better than we can imagine. There are many planes of existence to explore. There are many places in this one to explore. They can do anything they want. Why would they want to live my life?
My life is, or at least was before coming to certain realizations, not very exciting. They can live my previous life by taking a bike ride every once in a while, working on and reading about fake, controlled science all day long, believing it's "real" and that I'm doing "meaningful work", and then come home and play World of Warcraft or watch Netflix, with the occasional hike thrown in for good measure.
